Things To Do 6 Weeks Before Your Move:
If you are moving at your employer’s request, verify what expenses and responsibilities are theirs and which are yours.
Contact the IRS to find out what moving expenses might be tax deductible (especially if your move is due to a new job or employer relocation).
Obtain copies of important records such as those from doctors, schools, and accountants. Take this opportunity to also ask for referrals.
Make a list of the people, subscriptions, professionals, and other important contacts that you will need to notify of your move and change of address.
Start taking inventory of all the possessions you will need to move. Take this time to clear out clutter, donate items to charitable organizations, or make some money through a yard sale. Additionally, once you have selected a moving company, your moving consultant should be able to guide you through this process.
