Quality Starts with Preparation

Timing is everything. It doesn’t take more than a few initial phone calls and research to realize that the busy season for moving companies is well underway. The packed summer schedule also puts added pressure on the drivers and crews to perform quickly so they can move on to the next customer. However, speed and efficiency should never be the substitution for a job well-done.

In the July issue of Inside North American Brian Brooks, E.E. Ward co-owner, contributed to an article reminding all of us that proper procedure should always trump speed. “One area that is critical to our ability to please our customers is residence protection” Brooks explained in the article, “Inside Quality”.

The following three areas, as described in the article, require special attention  during the moving process and should be addressed by the crew.

1.) Floors: Always use rug runners, burlap pads, or mattress cartons to protect high traffic or sensitive areas. Next on carpeted main traffic areas only, use plastic protective tape that has an adhesive on the back. This protective tape should only be used on carpeting.

2.) Banisters: Always pad and rubber-band all banisters

3.) Doorways: To prevent damage, pad-wrapping all major doorways prevents damage from large or bulky items. In return, those items are also protected against scratches from the door. Lastly, doorjamb protectors should be used.

Taking the extra time to protect against mishaps in each house is just another way that E.E. Ward strives for the highest level of customer satisfaction and in return, these measures allow for efficiency in the industries most hectic months.
